Distro tapes updated end of December 2025

SPIRITO DI LUPO
Vedo La Tua Faccia Nei Giorni Di Pioggia
Bursting through the door with a raw martial snap, SDL blast out snarling anarcho-hardcore anthems inspired by the raspy maniacal sounds of the 80’s Italian punk greats and the sloganeering/
passionate-rant lyrical delivery style of the UK’s legendary anarcho punk scene. A riveting combination that doesn’t pull any punches and serves to highlight the beauty of the world rather than dwell in the brooding fodder that usually haunts those genres. Catchy, rudimentary and ecstatic music of the highest order.
Recorded by Thomas Anderson.

STATE MANUFACTURED TERROR
The US Government is a Kleptocratic Doomsday Cult.
The US Government is a Kleptocratic Doomsday Cult is the first vinyl offering by this relatively new NYC noisy crust punk unit that, to this ears, delivered one of the most powerful releases of 2023. in the form of their debut demo tape. What we have here is ten minutes of noise not music extravaganza, and if you can imagine the manic grinding rawness of NAPALM DEATH '85-'86 demos mashed up with R'N'R Conformity phase of DEVIATED INSTINCT, you might be on the right track to illustrate the sound and politics of State Manufactured Terror. Featuring members of Pobreza Mental, Headsplitters and Porvenir Oscuro.Original Release on 7" by Autsajder produkcija. Release on Tape by Filth Holocaust Records (IDN)

SUBVERSIVE - "Freedom & Equality"(Greenpeacedistro)//RM10//
SUBVERSIVE first demo was release in November 98. Entitle "Freedom & Equality" include 6 original songs. Sound mostly like the late 80'HC/Punk with aggressive vocals and raw sound and our influence like TOTAL CHAOS, CHAOS UK, EXTINCT GOVERNMENT etc". SUBVERSIVE, a band from Segamat that was born around the end of the 90s that featured 6 songs in all. Surely this demo brings back memories of the Segamat era bring chaos once upon a time. Maybe this demo is still stored in another collection of cassettes, some have been lost, flooded, kasi makwe borrowed and so on. It is released in very limited quantities. Can contact a nearby distro to get this demo. Before that, condolences to one of the line up in this band, the late Molok who died in a road accident. May his soul be safe there. To those who are willing to have this demo, thank you. "Up to the Pang".

SUCCUBUS - Coherence
(Apaadanyarecords)//RM20//
Succubus, based in Indonesia's central city of Bandung, is a fascinating band. They cite influences such as Xmal Deutschland, Sister of Mercy, Parálisis Permanente, and Christian Death, revealing a formidable backstory. From UK New Wave to Positive Punk, Post Punk, and Electronic Body Music, I'm curious to see how these influences have transpired in Indonesia (after all, I don't know much about Indonesia). Their sound management is solid, and I'm personally excited to see what they do next.
After falling deep into the abyss and attempting to ascend to paradise, Succubus remains hidden in the shadows of dark light, from the ruins of Christian Death to the memories of Bauhaus in an old tomb from Bursley to the altars of Xmal Germany.

THE DIRTY DOGS - "Petualang"(Greenpeacedistro / Broken Noise Records)//RM15//
Pahang crust attack!!! 20th Anniversary limited edition cassete which is originally release on cd in 2001.

THE IDIOTS - "Hajar Jahanam" (Dokumen negara records)//RM20//
THE IDIOTS are a legendary DIY punk band from Jakarta, Indonesia and have been at it since the early 1990s. This cassette contains 5 tracks of powerful punk rock of which the styles could be traced to both Japanese and Scandinavian origins. Top quality and thoroughly enjoyable!!

TOLAKKOK - "Fast to the fucking chor!" (Bebal Mailorder)//RM10//
Malaysian fastcore band Tolakkok have released a track off their new EP ‘Fast to the Fucking Chor’. To clarify what ‘chor’ actually is, the band added, “For those who are asking what the fuck CHOR is, CHOR is STONED in Baling slang, a region in Kedah where we’re from. We are a bunch of kids who like fastcore & getting stoned, so let’s FAST TO THE FUCKING CHOR”. The band’s bandcamp originally the x’s around their band name so either they’re truly having some fun or they made some huge lifestyle changes within the band’s existence.

TOOLS OF THE TRADE - "There is nothing left" (Tampui records)
//RM20//
TOOLS OF THE TRADE have blended well in the KL hardcore punk scene and have been crashing and hailing with brutal, intense grind powerviolence across the S.E.A. continent since 2004. The new EP, titled 'There is Nothing Left', was launched on 4 February 2024 in collaboration with Maternal Disaster (IND). The tapes were released by Tampui Records (MY) and feature 6 tracks driven by the internal forces of grind assault, including a flute appearance by Alind Plea for Peace and blasting drums by Jerry Kid (FINALRUN, MUNTAHDARAH, TRAUMATIC DISORDER). - (Kambai Record store).

TRAUMATIZER - NUCLEAR WAR MANCHINE(The seat of piss records)//RM20//
Our favorite heroes from Haarlem are back. Traumatizer returns with a second EP after their blistering debut from last year. Five new tracks continue to ooze pure violence and destruction based on pure D-beat rhythms and touches of punk thrash, along with some hints that might remind us of bands like Sacrilege, but without leaving aside the relentlessly explosive drum rhythms, razor-sharp riffs that allow themselves to play more, and a direct, raw, and devastating voice. The artwork, once again by guitarist Randy.

TROPHY KNIVES - "Look The Other Way" (Self released)//RM15//
From the gutters of Kuala Lumpur, came this punk rock quartet paving their way through the Underground scene. Touring in and out of Malaysia and Australia, Trophy knives is making cult followings of their own. Five songs of the teaser promo of their upcoming album later on this year. Beautifully written mixed and mastered. Come in a limited run. For fans of AGAINST ME, AFI, ANTI FLAG etc.

VAMPIRE - What Seems Forever Can Be Broken (Distort Records)//RM20//
Since reviewing Pomegranate Seeds: An International Benefit for Mutual Aid in Gaza, the compilation put out by the DISSIDENTS, I’ve been hunting for more VAMPIRE material, so when I saw I was assigned this LP I became very excited. VAMPIRE is an Australian band that plays apocalyptic anarcho-punk. A sense of extreme urgency pervades VAMPIRE’s sound, and What Seems Forever Can Be Broken is ten songs that combine the demanding hardcore of CONFLICT, with a foundation of CRASS, and the rough-hewn delivery of raw punk. The resulting album is dark, hauntingly mesmeric, but also aggressive with a sense of communal voice. In other words, this is anarcho-punk that is of the moment, and articulates exactly what contemporary punk is about without being preachy or elitist. This is that eye-to-eye, in-the-trenches vocalization of criticism that comes off as eye-opening and perspective-altering. What Seems Forever Can Be Broken is by far my favorite release thus far in 2025, but also might be the best album I’ve heard in a really long time. Like, this is benchmark-level material, so definitely give this a listen.

WARKRUSHER - "Armistice" (Distort Records)//RM20//
Canadian powerhouse WARKRUSHER are back after their insanely great self titled Demo Tape, Pils Sessions #11 Tape and the Epitaph 7". Agipunk will release their debut LP in Europe (American press by Desolate Records) right on time for their European tour. Now, a few words about the music: I honestly think this is the perfect combination between old school stench core a la AXEGRINDER, DEVIATED INSTINCT, early HELLSHOCK and early nineties BOLT THROWER. I've been shocked by the thick granitic power of this new recordings and felt my eardrums under a relentless siege that I had to listen to this damn good record over and over again for the next days. Not to talk about the artwork: simply insane with all those little details and stuff. Repress on tapes by Distort Records.

WARDOGS - "Absolute Loud Nights" (Greenpeacedistro)//RM10//
Malaysian first band playing Noisecore Punk ala CONFUSE, GAI, DISORDER and ATROCIOUS MADNESS, LEBENDEN TOTEN, DISCLOSE, SHITLICKERS, BROKEN BONES, BLOOD SPIT NIGHTS etc. 6 tracks previously released by Black Konflik Records in 2009, 2 songs from Sense Of Crisis split plus 2 unreleased songs. History : The band was started in 2004 with 5 piece playing raw punk in the veins of MODERAT LIKVIDATION, KAAOS, THE UNSEEN at the time we use the name 'social security' but not too long after that SS split of some problems and only left 3 of us. Somewhere in 2005 we planning to started a new band playing noisepunk since no much of these kind around and we started doing new shits and keep practicin. After a couple of month we become really active and have been invited for some shows. We use the name 'WARDOGS' which was taken from one line in our unreleased tracks called 'total fucking control.

WARSTRUCK / KONTRASOSIAL - Split
(Apaadanyarecords)//RM20//
On this split WARSTRUCK bring 6 heavy crusty hardcore from Sweden, with male and female vocal, trade off style. Include one cover from TOTALITAR.
The most active bands from Indonesia KONTRASOSIAL contribute 13 tracks of brutal Scandi d-beat hardcore in vein of State of Fear, Wolfpack and a bit of Disrupt. They did first European Tour on 2010 and made 2 times touring in Southeast Asia. This recording featuring the man with the magic hand that drawn for most infamous punk band records cover like PISSCHRIST, BROKEN BONES, DISGUST/MEINHOF and ton others! This split suppose an amazing split in 2009 but release in 2012!! Re-released on tapes by Apaadanyarecords.

YELLOWCAKE - Can You See The Future (Filth Holocaust Records)
//RM20//
YELLOWCAKE from Phoenix(AZ) are one of the sickest Hardcore Punk bands in America!! Supercharged by the heat and aggression of the Sonoran Desert and heavily influenced by the brutality of Finnish Punk. "Can You See The Future?" is a killer offering of Raw D-Beat Punk that is absolutely worth your while!!!

ZUDAS KRUST / IMMORAL "split" (Tarung Records, distort records, Apaadanyarecords)//RM20//
ZUDAS KRUST
Raw D-beat hardcore punk mayhem from Jakarta. They bring filthy noises, distortion and feedback since 2008. 5 new raw and agressive tracks full of chaos. This is total inferno!
IMMORAL is a Scandinavian riffs worshipper from Bandung. A non stop Swedish D-beat crust attack to the max. 4 songs as a middle finger statement to the authorities and war nightmares, Also Shitlicker cover song, Sprackta Snutskallar.

Tapes from The Seats Of Piss Records

ZORN - Endless  Funeral
Philadelphia metal-punks Zorn return with the new 5-track EP Endless Funeral, their first new material since 2023’s head-turning debut LP on Sorry State. Endless Funeral ups the ante on Zorn’s previous releases in nearly every way, with more brutality, more musicality, and more theatricality. Zorn’s unique blend of metal and punk continues to pull from a wide swath of influences, whether it’s the brutal death metal riff on the opening track, “Warpath,” the epic mosh part in “G.O.R.N.,” the charging d-beat of “Drunken Demon” and “Dance of Madness,” and even the neoclassical shred guitar of the title track, a standout moment from recent live sets finally immortalized on vinyl. Atop the instrumental melee, vocals howl like an army of banshees let loose from hellish containment, their idiosyncratic rhythms skittering wildly across the instruments’ lock-step pummeling. Summoning both the chaos and the power of Zorn’s legendary live sets, Endless Funeral will leave you bruised, bloody, spent, and loving every second of it.
Original Release on 12” By SORRY STATE Records. RE-RELEASE On tape by The Seats Of Piss Records.

ETERAZ - Villain
It started in 2017 during Rose and Elika's first spring, after their first meeting they got together and jammed with JL to play drums and started writing some songs. Then Rose asked Hallie to play bass. Then at that time JL left and was replaced by Riley from Physique. After playing a few shows and recording Evil Hardcore, Elika asked Bee to play second guitar. Long story short, in 2021 Riley left the band and they went on hiatus for a while then continued by recruiting Sasha to play several shows.
They feel they continue to lean heavily on the influence of Japanese Crust and Hardcore music from the 80s and 90s as well as classic metal from the 80s and 90s. Inspired by contemporary bands such as Destino Final, Impalers, Vaaska, Condition, Warthog, Green Beret, and Exit Order, as well as classics such as Sacrilege, Discharge, GISM, Bastard, Anti-Cimex, and Venom.Final lineup before they decided to disband: Rose, Elika, Hallie, Bee, Sasha.
The Villain LP album contains 12 tracks packed with their dark hardcore punk style which is a bit shocking with touches of Sweden and Japan in it. The guitar has a very bad, jagged tone quality that is complemented by a thunderous buzzsaw bass. The loud drumming is top notch, pushing things deep into the red zone. What stands out most are the vocals, which are shouted in Persian.
It will be released on Vinly 12" by Iron Lung Records in 2022, and in 2024, it will be re-released by The Seats Of Piss in cassette form with a total of 25 cassettes.

VAXINE - Portal Lobotomy
After their 2019 demo and their debut 7" in 2020, VAXINE return with a full-length album like the ones before, long, with 13 songs in almost 30 minutes. This Brooklyn quartet already has its homework done being part of some of your favorites like PMS84, PORVENIR OSCURO, EXTENDED HELL, etc... just to name a few. The sound continues on the path of more classic British punk and perhaps less noisy and more classic if possible in these new songs. GBH, THE EXPLOITED or MAYHEM are the first bands that easily come to mind, like that whole British horde that blew up punk in those years, creating one of the best things that could have happened to humanity; UK82. Frontal lobotomy could have been perfectly conceived at that time. year 82 in any suburb of any English city, but no, VAXINE are here and now.
Original Release on 12" by Discos Enfermos & Toxic State Records

WARCHILD - A Question for Today... Not Tomorrow. (The seat of piss records)
A Question for Today… Not Tomorrow is the fifth record overall and second full-length from Umeå, Sweden’s Warchild. Given the band’s name and imagery, you might guess they play d-beat hardcore, and you wouldn’t be wrong. When I dropped the needle on A Question for Today…, the first comparison that came to mind was Totalitär. Like Totalitär, Warchild’s take on d-beat isn’t particularly heavy or noisy. The sound is powerful and clear, but the production doesn’t call attention to itself, instead asking you to focus on the riffs and songs. And they are killer! Again, like Totalitär, Warchild isn’t just banging out the gnarliest sounding chords they can find; their riffs feel well constructed, a sense of melody lurking just enough in the background to give the songs shape and character without distracting from their grittiness and power. The songs have a subtle cycle of building and releasing tension, several of them erupting in climactic guitar solos that, like the riffs, have the texture of Disclose-esque gestalt, but with that trademark sense of melody just outside the frame. A Question for Today... is an infectious record that’s almost too well done for its own good. If you’re into this particular Swedish hardcore sound, this isn’t one to miss.

OUST - Rather Be A Fuck Up
The cities of Nijmegen, Rome and Amsterdam have been chosen by fate to host one of the most promising current hardcore bands around. OUST is the name chosen for the group, to expel, to purge something from the body... rage, hate... all the things that make us feel unhappy in these dark days. With the rhythm of frenetic drums that shift between speed and mid-tempo, impossible guitar riffs, and inherent bass lines forming the solid foundation of a voice full of hate and many things to say, OUST delivers contemporary hardcore in its purest form. Drawing from the long Dutch tradition of this sound, they make it their own across 7 anguishing, claustrophobic, sometimes noisy and experimental tracks, yet always direct and raw in their consistency. That’s Rather Be a Fuck Up, with art by the living genius Mateo Correal, including a fanzine printed in risograph with lyrics, texts, and artwork.

BURNING KROSS - EP 2025
And in the middle of 2025, a marvel comes to life, the new Burning Kross recording from Belgium in 7" format. BURNING KROSS is an adventure by experienced musicians from the important Ghent scene and this is their fifth album. 4 new hardcore punk songs very USHC, 86 Mentality and Negative Approach might come to mind, but the sound is much more compact, harder, and reminiscent of the Swedish hardcore of bands like Totalitär and even with room for more "stomping" mid-tempos and even D-beat. But the best thing about Burning Kross is its political and lyrical content, which further enhances its sound. During World War II, ordinary citizens of occupied countries were, at first voluntarily but later forced, assigned to work for Nazi Germany. The same thing happened in Belgium. My girlfriend's grandfather, Oscar, did not want to work for the Nazis and so he went into hiding. However, he was betrayed and ended up in a concentration camp. He worked in Ulm, Germany. During that time, he kept in touch with his family through letters in our possession. These letters were first reviewed and likely censored by the Nazis. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish truth from lies, but the letters paint a portrait of how devastating war can be in so many different ways. There was poverty, loneliness, longing, uncertainty about the future, and at the same time, life went on. Little is known about the labor camps during World War II. That's why it's important to mention that during a war, many things remain hidden and that there are more victims than meet the eye. Leaders use all kinds of propaganda to deceive people. Even today in America, Russia, China, Israel, Europe, etc., the 7" comes with four inserts featuring stunning works by Keith Caves (as on his previous vinyls) with the lyrics of the songs, wrapped in an envelope recreating the letters Oscar sent to his family. The importance of opening our eyes to the new Nazi-fascist world order must be a reality. Don't be fooled! They always wear fake smiles. I guess it goes with the style. Politicians in my eyes!

PURE TERROR - Ehteram إحترام EP
PURE TERROR, New York City’s pan-Arab hardcore band, is back with the Ehteram إحترام EP. This four-song record is filled with raw NYC punk, but with a distinct flavor. If you didn’t catch the PURE TERROR cassette that was released a couple years ago, then now is your chance to check this band out. I’m currently obsessed with the third track entitled “No Compromise” and its shifting guitar riffs over whirlwind tempos. PURE TERROR features Nader of HARAM and a crew of gifted musicians who have managed to create some of the most abrasive (and thereby loveable) punk to exist.

DETESTATION
1996-1998
Detestation from Portland, Oregon was one of the foremost of these bands. A true outburst of urgent force against the status quo set to fast-paced and powerful blasts of hardcore fury propelled by Saira's scathing vocals. Like many of their contemporaries Detestation brought the fury and energy of the underground hardcore to basements, barns and roller rinks around the country. Anywhere a sound system could be set up, an underground show was promoted. Building upon the network of friends that was making connections through mail and record trading, around the world at the time they also toured Europe and embraced the autonomous DIY scene there. Detestation's 1998 LP was originally released on Skuld records; it has been in and out of print over the years. Havoc Records is making this new pressing available to coincide with the band headlining C Y Fest in Los Angeles.Sonically Detestation is frequently compared to Sacrilege, but this is based more on Saira’s vocals than the actual riffs. Detestation lacked the metal influence of Sacrilege instead using the basic building blocks of hardcore punk from the 1980’s to create a hard hitting and powerful hardcore punk attack. They combined the structures of 80’s American hardcore with the original Japanese and Finnish hardcore bands then becoming more widely known by collectors and fans. These songs, though a product of their era, have held up much better than many of their 90’s contemporaries due to the straightforward harnessing of hardcore fundamentals into powerful and memorable songs. Remastered for vinyl by Jack control."

INQIRAD
Demo
The name Inqirad means extinction in Arabic.
The meaning behind it is the extinction of my people and how Arabs are treated globally. People look at us like we’re sub-human, look at what’s happening in Palestine. You can see that there’s not a lot of media coverage and what we do see isn’t necessarily from the press, it’s from individuals in the Gaza strip with phones & internet access. My people suffer every day. And it’s been this way for a long time. -Abdullah El-khatib-... Release by The Seats Of Piss Records

JALANG / UNSANITARY NAPKIN SPLIT
Jalang destroy 7 news songs, including a cover of their split-mates Unsanitary Napkin from Aoeteroa. Screamed lyrics in Indonesian and English (Alda/Vocals is from Indonesia), hard hitting d-beat drums, heavy and vicious axe attack thats tempered with a catchiness that will groove your bones, and bass to hold it together.

Unsanitary Napkin are a bit more wild in the adhering to strict d-deat genre conventions, they make me think of a lot of great 90's bands who flaunted punk conventions and just went musically rogue. I love it. They return the favour by slipping in a Jalang cover on their side.

Both bands rage with disgust at world that can sit by as genocide takes place, as women and marginalised people suffer under the boot of a bullshit system. Delivered with a friendly warmness that embraces the listener and allies like the humidity in a sweaty house show. The world is full of horrors but DIY punk can slow a descent in total despair.

Tapes from Distort Records

HABAK
Ningún Muro Consiguió Jamás Contener la Primavera.
Habak, formed in the infamous city of Tijuana, Mexico, is one of the most ongoing bands that continue the context of Spanish emocrust. The band's emotional performance, melodies with a sense of desolation, and high expressive power that maintains a sense of drama and tension even in long songs are similar to those of Ictus, and the band's music has a certain charm. While inheriting the will of their predecessors, the core of their expression is the sadness, despair, and anger they face in the modern world. However, the swirling emotions are sublimated into an art form without being negatively entangled, and the sound is a mixture of classical beauty and the intensity of hardcore punk. There are many slow parts that resonate with Emo/Screamo, but this is expressed not only in the sound, but also in the introspective worldview, lyrics, and artwork by Alex CF, who has worked with Fall Of Efrafa/Light Bearer and many others, which evoke flowers, insects, and organic ecosystems. There is also a deep perspective in the way the system is paired with the capitalistic system created by humans. Their deepest expression has an awareness of issues that we, who live in Japan today, cannot be unaffected by, and this should be reason enough to release their work as a domestic release. - Otonashi Records

LANGUID
A Paranoid Wretch In Society's Games.
Perfectly executed D-Beat from Edmonton, Canada, a repress of their third album (originally released in 2021 by D-Takt & Råpunk Records). LANGUID belong to the Swedish branch of the D-beat family, less Stoke On Trent, their sound is derived from DISFEAR, DISPENSE, DISCARD and DISCHANGE, and as such they nail it good and proper. Appropriately enough, mastered by Kenko from MEANWHILE.

BOOTLICKER
1000 Yd. Stare
Bootlicker's newest album, "1000 Yd. Stare," is ten tracks of violent music for a vile world. Musically, this sees the group sticking to their UK82-meets-American-hardcore with the echoes of Discharge guiding the hand. Skeptix, Special Duties, and Svart Framtid are the seasoning.

FLOWER
Hardly A Dream
FLOWER's tedious approach to writing/making/drawing an LP into their debut cassette has been carefully thought out and the result is a monumental anarcho punk/crust record.
“Hardly A Dream” Takes us on a grim journey through the dark side of society. As soon as you drop the needle, a dark atmosphere is immediately created with a slow intro featuring arpeggiated guitar work building to a stunning d-beat crunch. The album's vocals then leave you feeling crushed by the ever-present burden of living in the modern world of late capitalism built on the falsity of the so-called American dream, religious hypocrisy, nationalism, and human greed. .

FLOWER takes a lot of cues from its predecessors and is most often (and rightfully so) compared to NAUSEA but they also take heavy influence from ANTISECT, SACRILEGE & other greats. The artwork has a very RUDIMENTARY PENI feel and the record comes in a stunning 24.5 X 34.75 CRASS style poster jacket. All artwork is carefully drawn and supervised by guitarist Willow with true DIY style and spirit.

DISSIDENT
Menjaga Nyala Berbagi Api
Menjaga Nyala Berbagi Api is an explosion of disgust condensed into ten devastating tracks. Born from the womb of a sonic collective that crawled from the darkness of 2019, this album is a monument to organized anger. With its final lineup of Cumik (vocals), Dika (guitar), Ulul (guitars), Imam (drums), and Anggit (bass), the album unleashes frenzied crust/d-beat explosions and piercing death metal riffs. Their stage becomes an autonomous zone, a battlefield where music is the weapon and solidarity is the ammunition.

Menjaga Nyala Berbagi Api is resistance distilled into ten tracks. It is the antithesis of gloom, a proof of concept that autonomy can still be fought for. Every composition is not merely a song, but a gathering place for voices that refuse to surrender to loneliness and resignation.

AXEFEAR
Prophetic End
Following up a despairing, miserably heavy demo last year, Seattle’s Axefear unleashes an irradiated hellwave of horrific metallic crust on their first full length ‘Prophetic End’. Stenchcore from yesterday’s collapsed future, Axefear harbors the prophecy of doom within their furiously miserable metallic riffage, ringing the deathknell with roiling midpaced metalpunk chugger apocalypse, looming mournful melodies soar downcast into the abyss, evoking shredded battlestandards from the final conflict, cruising-speed thrash with killer riffs and despairing leads, muscular grinding war Bass and thumping, rocking, vicious drums with blast-forward moments amidst the metallicrust chug carnage, withering expulsions of grind within the more mid-paced bombardment landing like bunker-busters. ‘Prophetic End’ bears a particularly excellent production job, thunderously loud and sculpted, accenting every war-scarred lead and despairing bellow against clean guitar interludes with crowsong choir amidst the presumed dead. If you’ve been following and/or digging on Swordwielder, Cancer Spreading or Moribund Scum, you’re certain to dig this. Reissue tapes by Distort Records.

NIGHTFEEDER
Cut all of your face off
While I dig some d-beat, I find much more of it to be pretty unoriginal, repetitive and boring. This is primarily due to the dearth of great songwriting. Anyone can play fast, write derivative riffs and scream some dark, “fuck everything” lyrics over the top of it. Once a decade, it seems, a group can actually transcend the confines of the genre and write epic, memorable songs while losing none of the bleak aggression of the originators. Tragedy is the gold standard of all of this, and Nightfeeder is the first band to come close to that greatness since. Massive guitar sound, banging riffs, ripping drums, and—crucially—dynamics. This is not some one-trick-pony scenario. Tempos vary, solos are interjected, hooks are discernible and still, heaviness and darkness permeate it all. If you’re picky about your brutality, this is the beating to take. Repeatedly. –Chad Williams (Razorcake)

SIYAHKAL
Days Of Smoke
And Ash / روزای دود و خاکستر
Siyahkal is a band named for a guerrilla operation against the then long-ruling Pahlavi government of Iran in 1971. The Marxist-Leninist “Organization of Iranian People’s Fedai Guerrillas” stormed a military outpost in order to free previous captured guerrillas. The band’s music seems to be deliberately influenced by 80s Scandinavian hardcore, as well as some more current tropes (squealing feedback, noise, a straight four on the floor beat). The most unique thing about their sound, though, is the vocals, which are delivered in a Kurdish Farsi dialect, sung in a startlingly unique way. At the risk of Orientalizing the style, they do sound non-Western, indebted to melodic traditions of the Middle East and maybe even Russia. At times, the singing sounds borderline operatic or almost like folk melody. Perhaps a nod to subverting longstanding cultural traditions or about desecrating folk legacy in traditional music. Other moments simply sound like the most terrifying military order being barked at you from behind a bayonet.

LANGUID
Shove their system up their ass
The dbeat engine that is Languid keeps rolling along destroying everything in its path. Here the Canadian rippers return with their 4th full length. 12 tracks of full throttle D-beat punk in the Discard tradition. This will be released to coincide with the Languid Japan tour 2025."Halfway into this current, horrific decade, we’ve reached a once far future that is arguably bleaker than many had ever hoped. With the ever more present, fucked up societal systems in place that wage war on the existential progress of the masses while worshiping at the altar of imperialism, ideas of resistance and anger are as vital as ever. With “Shove Their System Up Their Ass”, Languid returns with their fourth 12” record, reminding listeners that this isn’t some tired old slogan but at its heart, an alarm to be present and angry. While some choose to ignore bands by their 4th record, Languid present what is possibly their strongest and most necessary material yet in their ever reliable Discharge by way of Dischange/Meanwhile style. We all know the formula well by this point, but here the songs are stripped down even further. There is nothing extra; no reverb, no wasted space, no nonsense. The intensity is cranked, with the guitar driving the always bulldozing, yet hypnotic, riffs. Here we have the best output yet from these Canadian raw hardcore lifers. “Reject the shit, no ruling class, shove the system up their ass!”"

Hellshock
S/t
Over 10 years since the last long, HELLSHOCK strengthens its style by playing some of the heaviest riffs on the world punk scene. Where most crust bands seem to lose their fire and dirt or just fall apart before the peak of their heyday, this band seems to get more powerful with each release, and this long-awaited album is no exception! This track features RIPPER’s Robbie Chronic on guitar, adding some really sick solos. Plus, there’s a strong tempo, pure brutality, growling, anguished vocals and epic songwriting without straying from pure crust classics. For the fan: AMEBIX, DEVIATED INSTINCT, AXEGRINDER and HELLSHOCK. The name deserves to be right next to the creators and masters. Over 20 years from now, this record will be considered one of the best records of 2020, just as we look back on “Only the Dead Know the End Of War” as in the late 2000s.

TOZCOS
Infernal
Tozcos is a punk powerhouse from Santa Ana, California that has been tearing up the Latinx punk scene in the States for over a decade with their all-Spanish bangers. With a discography that includes a rawly recorded demo (2013), a similarly stripped-down EP (2015), and their hard-hitting debut album Sueños Deceptivos (2018), their sophomore full-length, Infernal, dropped in late 2023 and caught everyone off guard.
More surprisingly, Toxic State Records, a label known for its allegiance to the New York punk habitat, took a leap with Tozcos—a rare thing for the label to release a band from California. While Toxic State has always toyed with a number of Latinx bands—most recently putting out great releases by the likes of Abism, Salvaje Punk, and Ataque Subliminal—bringing Tozcos onto their roster was a bit of an unexpected move.
Musically, Infernal is a huge step forward for Tozcos, delivering a more dynamic and electrifying experience than their debut. Their sound is still deeply rooted in the tradition of California Latinx punk, with nods to pioneers like Alice Bag, The Zeros, The Stains, and The Plugz. Influences from Agent Orange, Adolescents, and TSOL are evident in their occasional surf guitar riffs and compelling hooks, while their rhythm section brings to mind the classic UK82 style.
Despite the band’s Californian heritage, Tozcos also draw inspiration from an even wider range of international bands—especially in the harsher, more raucous vocals—ranging from Spanish punk like Eskorbuto and Toreros After Olé to other European bands like B.G.K., Negazione, Svart Framtid, and all those worldwide bands you hear on classic 80’s compilations like Welcome To 1984. Of course, all this name-dropping is just to show that behind Tozco’s simple yet effective formula lies a deep understanding of punk’s origins and cultural significance, while the band enthusiastically does its own unique thing.
As descendants of Mexican immigrants in the United States, the lyrical content of Infernal is even more important and culturally relevant than the music, as it boldly explores themes of self-perception and the experience of being an immigrant. It’s punk with a purpose, tearing through themes of identity, existence, and resistance.
From the get-go with “El Vacio,” Infernal grabs you by the neck and pulls you into the void with razor-sharp riffs and a relentless pace, questioning the very fabric of our fears and insecurities. Tracks like “Ven A Ver” and “Nadie Dice Nada” spit in the face of indifference, serving as a wake-up call to the injustices festering beneath our collective gaze, and “¿Quién Te Va Enterrar?” refuses to succumb to the forces that seek to bury people’s stories and struggles.
“Desilusión Total” and “Regeneración” cut deep, exploring the disillusionment and hunger for renewal amidst a maze of systemic barriers, while “Presos” and “Ojos Muertos” paint a bleak picture of soul-crushing confinement and a world numb to suffering. And let’s not forget that the lead single “Presos” was also paired with a killer video that channels the spirit of the ’80s Latinx punk underground in a gloriously lo-fi homage, which mimics an obscure shot from an ’80s TV clip recorded on a glitchy VHS tape.
Bangers like “Sigio Infernal,” “Nunca Pasarán,” and “Viboras” are a fierce rally against time, oppression, and deceit, embodying the perpetual fight for survival that defines the experience of the dispossessed. “Abolición,” the concluding track, powerfully condemns systemic violence and calls for the abolition of oppressive structures like the police, highlighting the infernal conditions endured by communities under systemic mistreatment and injustice.
True to its name and aesthetics, Infernal not only electrifies as a relentless punk record but also serves as an important social critique on the struggles and adversities faced by marginalized and immigrant communities in a time of increasing social disparity and conservative politics. Certainly one of the punk highlights of the year. Europeans can get the record from Quality Control HQ in the UK.

NO FUTURE
Mirror
NO FUTURE steps up to the big size and only format that matters with 20 minutes of raging paranoid drum and bass driven noisy punk tracks in the vein of Sial, Lebenden Toten or Destino Final. “Mirror” is a tightening of ideas and a blast forward in sonic destruction akin to a sinkhole opening up and swallowing rock crushers and earth movers whole… in a word, massive. A fucking deadly thing meting out intense views on “modern life and how easy it is to realise there’s nothing to be done to make things better for any of us. The horrific and broken virtues of the worlds governments and social structures that preach empathy and respect for people but in reality, they crush the human spirit into an easily manipulated paste so they can mould us into a deranged image of what we were. And this process only continues when you realise it, you try to resist and fight back, sometimes you have success, but it is ultimately futile.” Get this now.

Immoral is a band that was founded in 2011 on the south side of the city of Bandung and carries a sewidish D-beat crust music style, with Scandanavian riffs through lead strains towards gloom combined with satirical lyrics towards the authorities, the cruelty of war, nuclear nightmares, and a deep human culture.

ALEMENT
Banished Sphere
The Philadelphia, PA crust punks are back, five years since their Onward 12″ EP, here is their first full length album of seven perfectly honed tracks in the UK tradition dirt-core axe grinding. The stench is strong with this three-piece. From the first track you can hear the familiar Axegrinder/Deviated Instinct influence, quickly slipping into a stampeding gallop of early Sacrilege/English Dogs; while the vocalist channels and emulates the vibes of roaring into the dark, apocalyptic hell-scape, as once mastered by that Mr Aphid Baron on a desolate hill-top somewhere outside of Tavistock in the winter of 1982. If this sounds a bit derivative, in a way, absolutely, yes, it is, but that’s ok, the musical skills on display here achieves the same kind of restoration and re-creation that make Flower and Swordweilder so exciting and fresh. Safe hands reshaping old familiar into new familiar, I have no problem enthusing over the end result. (Land of treason)
