Review :
Malaysia RAW HARDCORE PUNK. Current band. A hardcore punk with a monotonous rhythm, a melancholy guitar, and a dumb voice. There is a fairly solid guiller solo part, and the guitar is quite good. It's not a metal guitar. For those who like melancholy hardcore punk. The vocals are sloppy, so I'm OK! Melodic rhythms and biting guitar solo passages dominate the overall feel of heavy hardcore / metalpunk made by Liberal Liberalis, a band based in Kuching, Sarawak. It (melodic element) sounds quite clear and stands out through 6 songs that are included in the "s/t" tape released with the influential labels Nervhous Records and Green Peace Distro. The band’s music is made up of a line-up of highly skilled musicians especially their guitarists. Liberal Liberals somewhat reminds me of the Armados group from Lahad Datu, Sabah where I think these two bands have a musical concept that is arguably similar; i.e. emphasizing melodic structure in their innate hardcore/punk rhythms. The lyrics sung by Liberal Liberals are so geared towards current political themes in the country; about Najib's leadership, abuse of power, corruption, oppression and the voices of those who want freedom and justice. For the record, Liberal Liberalis was formed around 2011 and is comprised of Colt (bass/vocals), Hassan (lead guitar), Bolton Zymeth (second guitar) and Ddek (drums). The tape was launched for production and distribution on October 8, 2016, during the Kuala Lumpur: Zine Festival x Indie Comics x Distro Day Out. This tape is fun and entertaining.
