ABRASION - Post manic (Electrohell Records) (RM10)
ABRASION nation in the year 2009. Originally formed as a project of only 2 integrators, where all their enthusiasm was put into making an alloyed and fast -paced music. A Powerviolence duo that will be inspired by style legends like SPAZZ and DROPDEAD. Her lyrics are very conscious and protesting, and her music is fabulous and entertaining. With very good sound quality Abrasion surprises with its brutality and good rhythm in which the themes are not made monotonously or abrupt. Perfect for lovers of modern Powerviolence.

ACUTE - For Peace 1986-1992 CD. (Black konflik records) (RM20)
Following SHOT GUN, FUP, and ZHENYUAN, Black Konflik Records in Malaysia has released another Hokkaido hardcore punk obscure excavation reissue! !! The only work left during the activity was a hardcore punk band from Sapporo called "Nothing Action, Nothing Have", which was produced in 1989 by SLANG, SATANIC HELL SLAUGHTER, FUP and this ACUTE 4 band. This is a discography CD. The 4 Way Split sound source and all 23 songs of studio rehearsal & live are included. Comes with a band and a sticker. I didn't know it at all until I heard the release information of this CD, so the liner notes in the booklet and the flyer at that time are very helpful, but the anti-war that did not exist much in the Showa local city hardcore punk It is a political band that has been seriously appealing, and members / musicians of important bands in the Sapporo punk scene such as SLANG, Dohatsuten, EASTERN YOUTH, SPITFIRE, SATANIC HELL SLAUGHTER (& 324), BLOODTHIRSTY BUTCHERS have also participated with support. That's right, it can be seen that it was a political punk group that was not based on the principle or image-first type, but was also active in the musical model of overseas punk. In fact, the intro of ANTI-SYSTEM is used for SE (there is also a song that seems to be a Japanese cover), and as a Japanese hardcore punk at that time, it is a rare type that does not have a so-called Japanese core feeling. For a long time, Sapporo punk had an image that there was almost no atmosphere of "I want to do punk like a Tokyo band!", And there were many types of bands, but there was such a political band. I'm surprised. Old Japanese hardcore punk fans should take this opportunity to check it out!! (Record boy shop) Listen to :
AFFECT - This is varmland noise. (Black konflik records) RM20
This is kängpunk at its finest: Affect come from Varmland County, Sweden featuring member of E.A.T.E.R, Våldsamt motstånd, Fördärvad, A.R.S.E.L and Destruktiv. Total 14 tracks mini discography with Disclose worship in a total distort brutal Hardcore mangel.
Well, you got that right, AFFECT. I first played this tape well into the evening, after a few park sodas, and said to myself “maybe I’ll listen to this again over the weekend, and it won’t sound so much like DISCLOSE.” AFFECT are a Swedish band, and if you love DISCLOSE and GLORIOUS?, this is a perfect addition to your Dis-collection. Dis is absolut raw chaos punk noize for reality fucker. And the best part: it’s done by two people, yet sounding like a catastrophic cacophony of several more. The percussion is a bit heavier than is standard, as is the galloping stomper track—my favorite—”Bleeding.” The words are lengthy and well-paced, nicely understated, throughout the tracks, and my only complaint is that I’d love to have some printed lyrics. The tan-on-black cover art is also excellent. AFFECT goes from “eh” to “hmm, well, OK!” with each subsequent listen. - Maximum RocknRoll #448 , September 2020.

ANDROPHAGOUS / TOXIC REVOLUTION - Exterminate (FDA Rekodz) (RM10)
There is no reason to worry: the heart of the local grindcore scene is beating, the bastion of scary music is standing and resisting. ANDROPHAGOUS and TOXIC REVOLUTION come from the KEITZER environment and are on a confrontational course with their joint release, crushing everything that thinks they have to stand in their way. Two bands, two beastly bolts, 32 sharpened injection projectiles, fired in just under 38 minutes, the longest piece lasts 164, the shortest 34 seconds. To make it short: Here you primarily feel with your ass. On this split release REPULSION, early TERRORIZER, ASSÜCK, also INFEST, HERESY and CRUCIFIX culminate, as well as newer ones like INSECT WARFARE - the agenda could be extended to countless other pioneering exponents - in an old-fashioned, but by no means obsolete way talk about "old hat", of course. Whether ANDROPHAGOUS or TOXIC REVOLUTION, the sound of both bands offers a lot of identification potential. In order to describe him, one cannot avoid the references mentioned above. On the other hand, it's good that they don't let themselves be deterred from using the gigantic vocabulary that the countless grindcore releases of the last few decades have at their disposal. They add everything they can to make their music more divisive, more brutal, more angry and generally more uncomfortable. Hyper-fast blasts, morbid and scalpel-sharp guitar riffs, overlaid by nasty screams and grunts. Always brute, always in a skilful balance of bulkiness and tonal apocalypse. The fear of doing something that was already done, that bands have done long before them, is misplaced. Because it works in this genre again and again, plain and simple, here everything is brought together to form the most valuable asset and you can't get enough of it. ANGKARA - Dogma (Broken Noise Records / Green Peace Distro / Disc346 Records / Zuath Generation Distro) (RM10)
In the first album titled "Dogma" which was released as a result of the collaboration of 4 labels, all that has been overcome very well, in fact the improvement is clearly bigger and massive. The original Hardcore / Crust Punk d-beat unit from Kulim, Kedah is back in style and "Dogma" is really powerful and full of energy. The CD features 10 songs as well as the addition of an intro making the total duration 22:11 minutes. The recording sessions as well as the mixing and mastering process were done at Warehouz Studio from April 2015 to January 2016. Their music, their lyrics, their singing-all merged like an expression of anger that erupted and overflowed. Listening to the series of songs in this album, you can feel the fierce and violent expressions and cries of Angkara, along with the aggressive nature of the rhythmic nature of hardcore punk music that they perform. Angkara in this album is lined up by Matt Rizal (vocals/ guitar), Aziman Azmi (drums/ background vocals) and the inclusion of Pahrol Razi (bass/background vocals) who was not previously involved in Demo 2014. "Dogma" comes in an interesting package , a 7 "x 7" slipcase (like a 7 "EP vinyl cover). ANGKARA has already proven their potential and without a doubt“ Dogma ”is a fully recommended must-have. Listen to ANGKARA :
ANGST - Bloodbath, Practice & Live 1986 CD. (Black Konflik Records) (RM20)
Now on sale! Includes rehearsals and live performances of the UK crossover metalcore punk slash band ANGST, which was performed by three members of DEVIATED INSTINCT Mid, Snapa, Sean and four unspecified guitarists Alex for a very short time in 1986. A CD containing all 18 songs. Doom guitarist Bri is in charge of mastering. It's a band that was wrapped in a mystery, or it's the ultimate brewery excavation release that probably didn't exist in Japan, but the sample video that I sent a link with the information. Listen to ... Hmm ... Is this a practice tape that doesn't need to be physically released? To be honest, I didn't expect it until I actually listened to it on a CD. However, when I listened to it properly, this was completely interesting in the UK crossover thrash royal road style at that time. Mid doesn't play the guitar and concentrates on vocals, so to be clear, it's not something you can expect and enjoy with DEVIATED INSTINCT connections. However, the royal road style that UKHC punks challenged thrash metal is like a small SACRILEGE, and it is the same kind of guy as LEGION OF PARASITES, ALTERNATIVE ATTACK, DESECRATORS, ANIHILATED. Also, the live sound source in the second half is better than the rehearsal sound source in the first half! !! Check it out for UKHC fans and enthusiasts who like RKT, CMFT, Metal Works, etc. obscure UK thrash metal! !! (Record boy shop)

CORVUS - Left it too late CD (Black Konflik Records) (RM15)
From Malaysia BLACK KONFLIK, the 2007 recording of CORVUS, a doom metal project by Pete Nash (ANTI GOTHIC LEAGUE, ENT, Filthkick, DOOM etc) and Bri DOOM (DOOM, SORE THROAT etc), is on CD for the first time! It is a paper sleeve specification that is rare in BLACK KONFLIK. The song was produced by Pete Nash, and Bri DOOM was in charge of the drum part and recording. It seems that he was thinking about activities as a band if there was a good reaction to make a demo, but since Pete lives in a remote place, he could not find friends to play with around him, and eventually he settled down in this form. That thing. And so far, it seems that more than 8 demos have been quietly produced. A song inspired by ELECTRIC WIZARD and produced by picking up a guitar for the first time in more than 10 years. Includes all 5 eco-doom metal songs that incorporate a natural theme into the feel of old doom metal bands such as BLACK SABBATH, AMEBIX, and MOTORHEAD. Listen at :

CROSSING OCEANS ; A Transcontinental Hard Core Punk Madness!! (Youth Crime Recordings / Unified Resistance Records / Hit and Burn Records / DIS346 Records / Gravest Records) (RM10)
This 4-way split is complemented by DEATH BY FUNGI (Bombay, India), SHARON STONED (Gombak, Malaysia), LAST DITCH EFFORT (Southern California, USA) and WARTHOLE (Surakarta, Indonesia). Basically this product is the latest release from Sharon Stoned’s hardcore brigade camp but to be honest I was a little upset because 2 of the songs from them in this CD are songs I’ve heard before and are in their previous releases. Even so, I believe the selection of the song is the best selection representing Sharon Stoned’s maturity today. ‘Ait The Bait’ (which was once aired through the Continuous Resistance compilation) showcases Sharon Stoned’s latest ability to compose fast-paced, thick and rocky hardcore music while ‘WTF Happened To You?’ proving their creativity hardcore the original song The Offspring. Hopefully, in the next releases SHARON STONED comes up with new recording songs. This split "Crossing Oceans" opens with two songs from DEATH BY FUNGI. Their music is fierce. Solid and loaded hardcore with strong metallic beats and embroidered with colorful melodic pieces. Among the musical formation influences of DEATH BY FUNGI are such as PROPAGHANDI, BLACK FLAG, DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN and SLAYER. The third band, LAST DITCH EFFORT which was formed around 2003 also contributed two songs in the nuances of Hardcore Punk that are delicious and uplifting with lyrics themed on political matters. The melodic part is beautiful and quite pleasant to listen to. WARTHOLE who acts as the cover band of this 4-way split presents 3 songs where the last song is far different in nature and is considered a bonus for this CD. The first two songs of them are Hardcore rhythms that sound so solid and heavy, applied grind elements to taste. Most interestingly, the 3rd track entitled ‘Demi Nestapa Yang Bermekaran’ in my opinion is a drone / ambient noise sound track for 7:45 minutes. This bonus track seems to be my favorite and is often repeated, its impact is ruffled feathers. On the whole, this 19:32 minute overall CD split product is a really good effort. Sharon Stoned spread her name all over the world while foreign names in the hardcore/punk scene from various parts of the continent were introduced to the listeners here. Artwork by Kecoa Jahat (from Indonesia) is also so charming and the 12-page booklet is neatly and interestingly refined. I suggest you get this release soon. Listen to :
DEATH TO ALL POLITICIANS / PISSDEADS - Welcome to the human race (SMIXX Records) (RM15)
DEATH TO ALL POLITICIAN or you guys can call it DxTxAxP is a new 2-piece noisecore band from S.A City, Malaysia; consists of Bastard Son (drum/vox) and Drunkard (guitar/vox). This is still fresh, Old School Noisecore like SEVEN MINUTES OF NAUSEA (7MON), ARSEDESTROYER, DECHE-CHARGE, YES MEANS YES, PISSDEADS, DEATHWANT and other short, fast & noisy noisecore bands! Remember, do not trust the politician, and hate the politics!
PISSDEADS is a one-man band from Russia who's been grinding out his own brand of sloppy noisecore/grind for a good few years now. This side is sloppy blurr/grind with ultra-harsh distorted vocals and vicious high-end from the drums. DEATHWANT are a side-project of superb grinders SUFFERINFUCK and this is their first appearance on vinyl after a raft of tapes on various labels. Very, very harsh sound going on here: the recording is pushed so far into the red instruments are barely discernable and the screaming vocals cut right through everything. There are some fuckin great riffs going on here though, and this definitely skirts with a more traditional grind sound more often than the ultra-short blasts of many other bands of the genre. Brilliant stuff! My only complaint is there's no songs titles, cos they're usually class! Listen at :

DEATH TRAP FROM HELL- BATTLESCARD / ABSOLUT / OSMANTIKOS (Black konflik records/ Bullwhip Records/ War cloud Records) (RM10)
5 songs from each band of ABSOLUT who seems to have been enrolled with OSMANTIKOS of Malaysia scheduled to come to Japan in May, BATTLESCARD of Yokohama scheduled to come to Japan at Koiwa BUSH BASH, and ZEX of Canada who just went on a Southeast Asian tour. The international 3WAY split work with the song has been released jointly by BULLWHIP, the member of OSMANTIKOS, and 4 other Malaysian labels! DECOMP - Condemned to Earth CD. (Black Konflik Records) (RM20)
Debut full length from the long standing PDX unit, DECOMP. Bitter, Angry and Aggressive in every sense. Following a couple ep’s and a few line up changes, this LP gives you a vulgar display of tightness and brutality performed by a band in their prime. Condemned to Earth finds them crossing that line into metal even further than before (complete with sick guitar leads) but still a chalk load of stench here to keep the crusties drunkenly bobbing their heads. There are plenty of nods to the usual suspects (ie SACRILEGE, BOLT THROWER, et al) with hardcore punk hooks bringing to mind FRAMTID, ENT and the like. The result is an uncomfortable soundscape of chugging riffs, breakdowns, plenty of tempo changes, with a thick layer of guttural, spiteful vocals. There are only so many times you can get away with using the word “brutal” to describe certain records, but this one is BRUTAL in every sense of the word. End of times crust for the filthy black waxed jacket punks and flowing locked heshers alike. Listen at :

DEPRESS - Discography 3inch CD. (Broken noise records) (RM15)
I couldn’t find much information on this band, either in English or Spanish. I know they’re a ’90s band from Malaysia and this is their entire output remastered for our enjoyment, all released originally by Broken Noise Records. The first half is songs from a split with Indonesia’s ANTIPATHY, and the second half were part of the Johor Hardcore comp. The twelve tracks are a blast, unhinged and blistering hardcore with some cool melodic and street-punk-like vocal hooks. Great song arrangements, furious vocals when needed, and a clear socio-political stance against authoritarianism and war. Would love to hear more from DEPRESS, hope there’s some more tracks in some vaults out there. (Maximum rock and roll). Listen at :
DESTRUCTION - Discography 1998-2011 CD. (Black konflik records) (RM20)
Discography of a super important band from Ibaraki that has been active since the late 90s, including current Ataraxia member Asao and Unarm member Kyabe! The CD version of the tape released in 2016 has been released by BLACK KONFLIK! This discography, which includes songs from the split with Plutonium, the 2009 pro copy, and several other compilations, perfectly captures the enthusiasm of the North Kanto hardcore, anarcho punk / crust scene that has continued from that time to the present, and I can say with confidence, having experienced Destruction's gigs many times at the time! Musically, as Acclaim Collective and others have mentioned, there are influences from bands like the origin of the "emo crust" that was at its peak at the time, and His Hero is Gone / Tragedy, but there are also elements reminiscent of the classic anarcho punk of Sedition, Scatha, Dissafect, and the raging Celtic Thrash and Dirt. Rather than the riffs being similar, it's more of an atmospheric similarity, with a slightly different darkness from that of the so-called UK Late 80's, as seen in European bands such as Filth of Mankind and Mind Pollution, and US bands such as Nausea and Antischism, and a wonderful fusion of Japanese hardcore passion with hot sing-alongs, which at first glance seem to be the opposite, and a variety of songs are colored. There are also glittering and sharp single-note guitar phrases scattered throughout that will make fans of so-called anarcho-punk roar, and you can once again see how diverse the Kanto "crust" scene was at the time. Considering how the excitement of that time has developed into the current scene in northern Kanto, Unarm, Ataraxia, etc., you can see how this discography is a must-have... Anyway, highly recommended! From the label info: Complete discography of this Japanese 90's crust / hardcore band from Ibaraki, from 1998 to 2011. Tracks from split w/ Plutonium, V/A compilation Natural Food Do You Like?, V/A compilation The Path To True Independence, Control EP and demo release. Now the band member who is active is in bands like UNARM and ATARAXIA. 11 songs that unfold the diversity of CRUST HARDCORE with intense, angry, powerful roaring, raging thrash sounds. A must have for all Japanese hardcore fans! Track List : 1. Handicap 2. The War isn't Game 3. Believe It 4. Children's Future 5. Workers 6. Control 7. Simple 8. The War isn't Game ( Demo version) 9. Why? ( Crust Night 2005) 10. Workers (Previous Version) 11. Handicap ( Demo version)

DSM-5 / 暴力装置 - The Future Means Murder Split CD. (Black konflik records) (RM20)
When the Swedish D-Beat met the Japanese D-Beat Raw punk here the split came out! DSM-5 / 暴力装置 - The Future Means Murder split proper D-beat delivered like it used to be as influenced by almighty DISCHARGE and DISCLOSE. DSM-5 recently just released an album from Cimex Records owned by Charlie (Anti Cimex) while 暴力装置 put out CDEP last year 2022. This CD included 12 new recording tracks with cover songs from DISCARD, that showed a blatant display of in-your-face, ugly and menacing hardcore buzzed with distortion. And both just when the constant cannonade of distorted guitars, aggresive vocals and pounding d-beats rawpunk as fuck.

DUCKHEAD – Always Late (Puckish
Records / Nervous Records) (RM15)
This band of three brothers from Sepang, Selangor is said to have taken some time before being ready to appear more mature and perfect through the EP "Always Late" which was released in mid-January 2018. The CD contains six songs with a total duration of 18:23 minutes; 4 songs in English and 2 Malay songs where one of them is a tribute 'Aduh Sayang', a classic song originally sung by the great artist P.Ramlee. In terms of music, Duckhead presents Punk Rock that is so entertaining, good to listen to and of course rock your body. They put together catchy and lively riffs and 'relaxed' parts well to create an interesting flow in each song. It is also rich in beautiful melodic compositions, strengthened by the impact and solid impact of the drum beat. Duckhead consisting of Idris Rabi (drums), Talhah Rabi (guitar/vocals) and Zaid Rabi (bass/vocals) get faster, louder and quite hard in the last two songs in this EP. Get the "Always Late" EP, it's worth it if you want good local Punk Rock that's solid in terms of music quality and sound production.

Russian and Canadian hardcore! !! A powerful split CD by Ontari's D-BEAT HARDCORE and DECADE !!! by Moscow Crusties, FATUM !!! and ABSOLUT members who are new to Japan tour is from BLACK KONFLIK! !! FATUM is also the best now. The sleek, metal crust, punk sound with a metallic guitar riff as the main axis is insanely cool. The best. On the other hand, DECADE, this work digests DISCHARGE from the GRAVE NEW WORLD period, and the metallic mid-tempo hardcore punk that has evolved further is really cool! !! (It doesn't smell absolut)That's why both are cool, so I recommend them!!

GIVE AND TAKE VOL.2. (Nervhous Records/ Red Ink Entertainment) (RM20)
Give & Take vol.2 is out now. It all started when Zahid (of The Elm Kids fame) offered us to make a compilation and record all songs at his studio Lifeboat Studio in Sri Kembangan Selangor. We told the bands around our circle to go and record a song at the studio. Some more bands that played at the Punk Rock Freakers show in November 2018 were invited.
The first band that recorded their song was The Needles which was in December 2018 and the last band was Toxictoy. Most of the bands also appeared in the Give & Take compilation vol. 1 released in 2012 which are TIM, Dum Dum Tak, Skunkfix, The Needles and Toxictoy. GUWF! Is a new band consisting of Tobek (Always Last), Munet (Stick No Bill), Napi (The Korok), Arip (Never Found) and also Solih (Brayok). They play powerpop like Weezer and Pup. Parklane made up of Jim and Saiful (Bugstar) which originated from Batu Gajah Perak. Absolute Paradox consists of two members from Tadpoles with the help of Akmal from TIM. Multiverse G.D. is a new band formed by Emy and Min from Skunkfix and also Shah from The Mindless Show. Nywa is Zahid's new band.
Other bands that made the compilation complete are quite big names in the local scene; The Fridays, In A Sense, Priceless Stupid Box (from Pasir Gudang Johor) and Trophy Knives (which recently launched their new album ‘Glass Ceiling’).
The Needles announced that the song they contributed ‘Bulan Ke Riba’ is gonna be their last song they record together. So to their fans and supporter. Do get this CD! Listen at :

HAAVAT - Myrsky Nousee CD. (Black konflik records) RM20
This is one band I somehow totally missed until recently, although they have been going since 2019. I should have my punk radar looked at by a specialist; too much Japanese distortion might have damaged it, or there are just so many new bands to check that it has become humanly impossible to know them all, even with a radar as sensitive as mine. So I keep it simple and just pretend to know all the bands and nod confidently whenever an unknown band is mentioned in public, like everyone else. I don’t want to lose punk points. I was curious about this band since Mid from DEVIATED INSTINCT drew the cover (his style is very distinctive) and I was expecting some heavy metallic sludgy crust, but wrong I was. Mid also plays the guitar in the band, but HAVAAT plays heavy hardcore punk with brilliant energetic female vocals in Finnish (she used to sing in RAKKAUS) and a dash of crust. It is a rather straightforward affair, which is the whole point I assume, and I am reminded of ’90s and ’00s anarcho hardcore bands like OPERATION, PARAGRAF 119, or DETESTATION, and crustier British bands such as EXCREMENT OF WAR or RUIN also come to mind. There are a couple of mid-paced numbers reminiscent of old school Finnish hardcore, and even some slower dirty metal punk ones to bring some diversity, but overall the songs are beefy and fast-paced. There are seventeen tracks on the CD, and to be honest, it does feel a little long at times, because this kind of direct hardcore punk works better on a shorter format. HAAVAT could have easily gone for an album with the ten songs highlighting best of the several tricks the band has up their sleeves and it would have made for a more solid record. Less would have been more here. Not a bad album, the vocalist is an amazing singer, but a little long. (MRR)

KLONNS / SOILED HATE - Different Senses CD (black konflik records) (RM20)
KLONNS is a new work without a break from "HUSK" which was digitally released in August 2021. While being burned by the evil of 80s JAPANESE HARDCORE, it has a BRUTAL and FLOOR KILL finish with an expanded interpretation of the side as DANCE MUSIC of HARDCORE PUNK. SOILED HATE, on the other hand, is a regular sound source following the LP "The Nine Billion Names of Hate" scheduled to be released from Germany . Based on 90s US POWER VIOLENCE, NYHC, DEATH METAL, and finally NU METAL ... greedily absorb all kinds of VIOLENT MUSIC. With a new generation of sense and sense of balance, it gives off the purity and toughness of the 20's POWER VIOLENCE without falling into an easy MIXTURE. Also included is CYBER PUNK COVER, where Zaiden swings tact and sailor Kannako, Golpe Mortal, and 1797071 scream. The exchange of mysterious radio waves and roars erodes the rigid hearing. KLONNS is a sound image that seems to have left the core part of the band in the works so far, and contemporary develops 80's Japanese hardcore punk, worldwide hardcore influenced by it, and sensual rhythm. SOILED HATE, which is scheduled to be released from RSR in Germany, is trampled by the fierce hardcore of POWER VIOLENCE, which has both destructive power and instantaneous power with twin vocals. As the title suggests, this is a THIS IS DISCIPLINE that is established at DIFFERENT SENSES. Listen at :

LIFE - Violence, Peace and Peace Research. (Black konflik records) (RM20)
The 2nd album released in 2013 by Tokyo Crust Core Punk LIFE, which represents Japan, will be released on CD for the first time from Malaysia Black Konflik Records! !! Limited to 400 sheets with obi. ex. ANTI-AUTHORIZE / LIFE since Mr. Futatsugi of the current GATES participated in the late 90's is very novel by adding a metal core element to the original Scandinavian style noisy stench crust slash. The deepening surprised the fans, but with the withdrawal of Mr. Futatsugi, the bassist Abe changed the part to a guitar, and it was reborn as a twin guitar organization with Mr. Taka, and even older hardcore fans. What surprised me was joining Nori as a bassist who has been active in many bands such as NUKEY PIKES. In this 2nd album, not only the Swedish Mangel crust type fierce runaway speed at the base, but also the metal core element planted by Mr. Futatsugi is firmly rooted, and the overwhelming lasing crust punk over the whole volume.・ It is no exaggeration to say that it embodies the process of deepening Japanese crust core, such as the anarcho-punk-flavored phrase of the CONFLICT system and the dynamism after 90's emo crust in the slash wave attack. It is finished in a masterpiece of. Contains 22 songs including re-recording of past songs and DISCLOSE cover. The jacket is an artwork by Mr. Nozaki of the current STAGNATION, ex. COLLAPSE SOCIETY. LONG KNIFE - Curb Stomp Earth CD. (Black konflik records) (RM20)
Crucial release from this Portland band that melds the perfect combination of POISON IDEA and early FUCKED UP to kick major ass. This record shreds from start to finish and adds unusual elements that keep it fresh the whole time. It is straight-up exciting. Opener “Modern Fatigue” starts with a goddamn full church choir that matches the epic, grandiose nature of the songwriting and riffs with divine power. Sounding like a gimmick at first, LONG KNIFE brings back the choir amidst the blitz-fast hardcore to awesome effect. The energy never slows from that moment and often uses intricate crossover riffing, time changes, and full-cheese thrash solos on songs like “Blue Rose” and “The Curse.” The thing is, it rules instead of feeling corny or overproduced. Take “Scum” for instance: Castlevania organs underpin the punk and later solo like there is a bat-winged candelabra on the guitar amp. It sounds like MURDER CITY DEVILS meets, forgive me, GHOST, but it rules. Essential, innovative hardcore that never lets up. If you don’t like this, your idea of punk may differ from mine - MAXIMUM ROCK 'N' ROLL. Listen at :

NARCOLAPTIC - Hypocretin. (Antikorper Export) (RM10)
The band from Hamburg / St. Pauli presents their fifth release with “Hypocretin”. It's been seven years since their last album “More Than Noise” was released on Antikorper-Export, but in the meantime it was anything but quiet around the band. Around 200 concerts at home and abroad (including Indonesia were played, including with bands such as Itchy Poopzkid, ZSK, Supershirt, Alarmsignal, 3rd Choice and many more. Many projects were supported - many festivals rocked. Their music is still to be understood as a means to an end and so the band works closely with various projects, be it VIVA CON AQUA or NOT BOCK ON NAZIS. The band even shot the “VcA behind the festival scenes” film for VcA. On “Hypocretin” the band has further developed their Skate Punk without losing their roots. The driving drums from Marlon, who also drums with the Ska Punks from RANTANPLAN, create the foundation together with the bass - the guitar work does the rest - very elaborate and accurately used. Don's voice is unique and full of character - the choirs are used skilfully. There are also ska and offbeat excursions, but they expand the songs instead of being annoying. The artwork was taken from KasiaKohl.com. Mixed and mastered by Role in the Tonmeisterei Oldenburg (fine cream fish fillet, disco // Oslo etc.). Listen at :
NO HOLD BACK...All attack!!! - Twin cities hardcore punk rock and roll. (Havoc Records) (RM15)
One day some genius posts on an internet message board that the scene needs a new comp and before you know it there's a 54 band Triple LP/Double CD compilation of all local bands. This record covers all the bases from grindcore, to crust, to SE Metalcore to pop punk and more. Bands you've grown up listening to, bands you've never heard of, bands you'll never hear again. Over all pretty essential listening for anyone into what's going on in Midwestern punk and hardcore today. Standout tracks by Dillinger Four, Soviettes, Misery, Calloused and Holding On. This is only the second Triple LP punk comp I know of. (Dan Doh comp being the first). Available at a special low price because lots of bands played benefit shows to help put this out!
NYX NEGATIV - Kalrshamns Punks 1981-1984 CD. (Black konflik records) (RM20)
Another Swedish punk gem brought back to life. Formed in 1980, after a few line-up changes NN quickly headed to a much rougher direction turning their sound into a manic raw punk as fuck barrage. Complete discography compiling all their existing recordings also including the rare “No morals” 7″ never reissued up to now! 25 songs consisting of: – Demo 1983 / – “No morals” 7″ (1984) / – Songs from “Rockslaget” v.a. 3xLP (1982) / – Live 1983 / – unreleased track… from classic two-fingers-in-the-air punk to a faster Swedish hardcore approach! PACK / SOL (LIFE ON THE EDGE). (RM10)
"Holy Shit! This fucking split tears it up. PACK comes from Switzerland and play blazing fast d-beat hardcore with superb breakdowns with duel vocals with what sounds like a little distortion on them.
S.O.L. comes out of Germany playing a similar style as Pack but with a bit more a metal edge and it is fucking amazing.
Both of these bands sound tight as hell and with great recording quality and song writing. Think about how many bad hardcore bands you've heard come out of Germany and Switzerland because I haven't heard many. Highly recommended. (Chad)" (Profane Existence #46) Listen at :
偏執症者 (Paranoid) Complete Discography Double CD - (Black Konflik Records) (RM25)
A fuckload (i.e. 50) of tracks on two CDs, housed in a nice digipak with an info booklet. I’m a little confused about the whole thing, with what sounds like English lyrics but with song titles in Japanese by a Swedish band. I’m guessing it’s an aesthetic choice, but I might just be a poser who doesn’t know shit about fuck. As a discerning fan of some noisy D-beat or Mangel or whatever, I still gave most of it up to collect late ’70s/early ’80s punk 45s! There’s only so much storage space in an affordable Bay Area flat, you know? And that was before PARANOID really came on the scene, so I own zero of their records, which makes me the perfect review candidate. I did not listen from start to finish because I don’t have enough alcohol and painkillers on hand, but skipping around randomly reveals that PARANOID is a capable noisy D-beat band with very effective imagery, and the occasionally referential nod to DISCLOSE or DEATH SIDE or any number of other noisy or Japanese things. My highlights are the MISFITS cover and STREBERS cover that isn’t on here (“2 Skott”), cuz it proves we have influences in common besides bands that start with D. So yeah I’m a bastard, but if you are a completist or need all fifty PARANOID songs ever in one package, then your prayers are answered. Jokes aside, Black Konflik = top quality.

偏執症者 (Paranoid): Cursed CD ( Plus 2 bonus Tracks from TATARI EP) (Black konflik records) (RM20)
Cursed we were from the beginning, now is and forever shall be. Chaos without end. The name which will be a thousand times cursed in eternity. Our fourth album offers 10 more tracks of our trademark metallic punk. While the sound is as powerful as ever, Cursed is our darkest and most melodic release as well. This CD release contains 2 bonus tracks from the TATARI 7" EP. Recorded in Studio Mangel, April-May 2021. Produced and engineered by Jocke D-takt. The drums were recorded in March at Studio 306, engineered by Johan Arveli. Mixed and mastered at Communichaos Media Clay Station by Kenko. On "狼狽の壁 (Roubai no Kabe)" voice by Bloody Kev. Recorded by Jamie Forth at his house. New Cross, London. Electronic sound design by Christian Augustin.
"If you know 偏執症者 (Paranoid), you might already have some expectations of what ”Cursed” might sound like – and you will not be disappointed. 偏執症者 Paranoid are not considering about taking prisoners as their brachial mix of D-Beat and Thrash Metal Punk rages like a horde of berserkers. Altogether, a beautiful powerload. Music for the fast lane, for deconstruction and for a flaming moshpit" Listen at :
執症者 (Paranoid) - Scum. (Black konflik records) (RM20)
執症者 (Paranoid) signals a significant shake-up in their sound. In many ways, though, it extends what 偏執症者 (Paranoid) has been up to for the past several years, continuing to widen their music’s scope, which takes in d-beat, noise, heavy metal, black metal, Japanese hardcore, and plenty more. It’s hard to deny, though, that S.C.U.M. includes more raw, straightforward hardcore in the mixture than the past few records. 偏執症者 (Paranoid) sounds aggressive as f*ck here, playing hard and fast and generating fucked-up tones that, like the best noise-punk, push past grating into the terrifyingly sublime. S.C.U.M. is hardly a back-to-basics record, though, as the sonic hallmarks of their past several records are all over this new EP, which has plenty of rocked-out riffs, soaring melodic lead guitar, and ambitious song structures… they’re just served on a plate of sandpaper. I’m sure plenty of people will say S.C.U.M. is the best record 偏執症者 (Paranoid) has made in years, and if you’ve lost touch with them over the past few albums, it’s time to check back in. And if you’ve been along for the entire ride, you’ll love how S.C.U.M. synthesizes sounds from across the band’s ever-growing discography. Listen Paranoid at :

POGO MACHINE - Punk Revelation (Pogo 77 Records) (RM20)
The 2nd album of 9 songs from the POGO PUNK band "POGO MACHINE" has been released from POGO 77! !! The first song that starts with the roaring sound emitted from the muffler (FX or XJ ?, is the muffler BEAT or Moriwaki?) Of a 4-cylinder straight pipe set is the best! !! Of course, the end of the first song is a police car siren (laughs) Compared to the previous work, the wide musicality + POGO MACHINE's catchiness is alive and well!

RIGOROUS INSTITUTION - Cainsmarsh CD. (Black konflik records) (RM20)
After three highly praised 7” eps, RIGOROUS INSTITUTION rises from the shadowy dripping streets of Portland, OR to deliver us their 1st full length album. Full of scathing vocals with smart, bleak lyrics (that border on poetry at times), axe grinding riffs, driving, dirty bass lines, hypnotic percussion, atmospheric synthesizer and a sense of droning paranoia scattered throughout its entirety. Yes, this is what one could call crust, but it feels too easy to use that word. These weirdos veer into seldom ventured territories that go from ripping to horrific soundscapes that make one’s skin crawl as much as their fists pump. Picture John Carpenter joining forces with AMEBIX in 1982 and it will give you an idea of what this epic CD will bring. This might just be the perfect soundtrack for the current state of the world. ROMI AND THE JAHAT'S - Rumah (kasih sayang record / Papakerma / Nervhous Records) (RM20)
Indonesia I was notice this band from their previous album, Slonong Boys. The truth about being in a band and delivering the goods its not about what you were gonna be...it is HOW much sincerity on making a music. RTJ doesnt need attention on producing a material subject by an ordinary world issue, global warming, war, politics or protest lyric verse..etcetra.. etcetra. Am just love how Romi sing every bit of the word, deeply concern about the truth of being a man in real family life, early marriage conflicts, being unfair or wrongly doing, father-son truth bonding declaration, untold story between living in a house. That's suits the title album RUMAH. Its a concept story album in it. How you gonna correct the injustice system or changing the corrupted world, without you yourself never think to change the evil inside you. It is depend on you to contemplate the journey or meaning of being one. Listening to RTJ its a complete package to activate my senses. All instruments composition was in place with variety of drum stroke precise on every beat. This Album “Rumah” is a kill...with most of the tracks was brilliant arrangement and easy listening. This is How RTJ dealing in making a good material with no need super high end studio recordings. Just pure talent, sincerity, honesty & believe on what u stand for... RESULT : Peer Pleasure & ultimate NGAMs!!! (Adik Bollocks). Listen at :

RUM REBELLION / HAMMERED GRUNTS: Pick Yer Poison (Rodent popsicle record) (RM10)
The world is still safe for spiky kids as long as the mighty Rodent Popsicle Records is still around. These two young Portland bands complement one another nicely. RUM REBELLION is a fast, Dropkick Murphys-inspired hardcore Irish folk punk band and HAMMERED GRUNTS play hardcore thrash. Each group covers a song of the other and also delivers five originals. It’s kind of surprising that there aren’t more bands like RUM REBELLION given the popularity of DKM and Flogging Molly, but it’s not a very easy style to pull off. RUM REBELLION manages to do it with as little cheese effect as possible. HAMMERED GRUNTS, likewise, stand out in that they have a very specifically late 1980s crossover hardcore feel that isn’t typically replicated these days. We’re talking time capsule material here. It’s hard to imagine Hammered Grunts booking shows on cell phones and the internet instead of via newsprint classifieds. –Art Ettinger (Rodent Popsicle).

SEVERED HEAD OF STATE / SCUM NOISE (Life on the edge record) (RM10)
Live recording onto CD, no doubt about the quality of sound, the front cover artwork done by marald (doing tons great artwork for state of fear, wolfbrigade, assrash, destroy, profane existence zine, etc). SHOS delivered very energetic live recorded sound. The music is an onslaught of power that can be described as the inbred bastard of Detestation and His Hero Is Gone with a distorted beast on vocal duties /while SCUM NOISE is a really crazy brazilian thrash crust legend band, they also doing cover from driller killer and olho seco. SLUDGE s/t CD. (Black konflik records) (RM20)
Japanese crust / metal-hardcore SLUDGE. This CD compiles all their tracks taken from Conduct LP, Demo, split EP and EP. As you may already know most of the famous japanese hardcore bands come from the bigger cities of japan like tokyo/osaka/nagoya but sometimes you can see there is a great band coming out from the countryside and this time SLUDGE is no exception. SLUDGE comes from kinan/wakayama southwest japan and it is always fascinating to see such an impressive band coming out from the rural and remote area. After several years of unknown activities the band released a demo cdr and sold it at only a few record shops which was the start of everything. Every person who happened to get the demo was blown away. Crust war had a chance to meet the members one day and asked if they wanted to release something and now this is the result. 20 tracks of total anarchic rawness and destructive mayhem played in traditional japanese metalcore punk style with a slightly crust and metal punk touch. Fans of GISM,ZOUO,later GHOUL, EFFIGY, DEMOLITION,TETSU- ARREY,G.A.T.E.S shouldn’t miss this! Listen at :

STRAIGHT TO HELL: ‘02-‘04 Discography : (Gloom record) CD. (RM10)
One shudders to imagine the plethora of slayed dragons and razed villages that must’ve fallen prey to this band in their short two-year existence. I’m getting that from the cover, which features an army of soldiers coming out of a large dragon-headed ship, being led by a guy with a He-Manesque breastplate and a dog’s head. It’s really no big shocker that Gloom released this: Straight To Hell’s playing straight-up thrash, with throat-rending vocals and the occasional screeching metal solo thrown in. The bad: I guess I really shouldn’t review thrash shit anymore; all of these bands just start to blend together after awhile. The good: Smart, scene-critical lyrics in a genre that almost always goes for the dumbass A-B-A-B rhyme scheme.–keith (Gloom) Razorcake. Listen at :
SUBURBAN SHOWDOWN - : Any Minor Inconvenience Must be Eliminated. (Rodent Popsicle Records) (RM10)
SHOWDOWN’S one of those bands that you’ve heard approximately one trillion times before and you most likely know well before you actually hit the play button if it’s going to be your thing or not—it’s gruff and growly and repetitive and firmly entrenched in all the trappings of crust punk. All the requirements are here: A-B-A-B rhyme schemes, stark black and white graphics, a Discharge cover. However, they’re also keeping things at a relatively amped-up pace—we’re only looking at ten songs—and they’ve managed to tackle an interestingly broad range of topics, both as punk consumerists and those in the outside world. Ultimately, they’re pissed, and there’s a great howling undercurrent of fuzz on those guitars, and while this particular genre is pretty played out for me personally, there’s no doubting the fact that Suburban Showdown manages a pretty nice attack here.–keith (Rodent Popsicle) Listen at :

THE DISCOCKS - Don't be fooled, don't be satisfied, don't be ruled, don't be denied. (Pogo77 record) (RM20)
THE DISCOCKS were a Pogo Punk/Oi! band formed in 1992 with Peter (Ohashi) and bass, Naka-chin on guitar and early D.S.B. drummer Hiroichi on drums. In 1992 the band released their first EP “Voice Of Youth” on their own New Age Records. In 1998 the band broke up and members Peter and Hiroichi went on to play in The Avoided, a band with a more ska oriented sound. After five years, DISCOCKS returned in 2003 with a new line-up and a new, more aggressive sound and with “The” dropped from their name. They recorded a three track reunion demo called “BSS Punk Sessions” with Mishima on drums and soon to be Extinct Government guitarist Hiroshi on Guitar. In 2005 the band released their first full length in almost ten years called “Don’t be Fooled…” on Nori (Tom And Boot Boys) own label Pogo77. After a Korean tour and various gigs around Tokyo the band recorded five new songs for a split release with Swedish punks “The Negatives” (The Bristles). The CD was released on MCR. The band continued to play until late 2007. Peter now plays in Reggae outfit 45RPM. Naka-Chin now plays in a 1980s punk tribute called “Punk & Disorderly” with Nori (Tom And Boot Boys), Kentaro (ERECTiONS) and Hidenori (Hat Trickers). Listen at :
THE RUSTLER - 1988-1994 CD. (Black Konflik Records) (RM20)
A CD version from previous LP released by FOAD Records with different artwork. Ultrafast, raging, powerful – three words to describe the overall feeling that we get approaching to any of the legendary names spawned by the Shizuoka HC scene. And with no doubt, The RUSTLER were one of the best representatives from there. Here you get their complete discography 1988-1994 consisting of their debut flexi disc, split 7″s with So What and Swindle Bitch, songs from “Shizuoka City Hardcore” and “Who’s chained up to the dogs of outrage!!” compilations and additional rare tracks never released on vinyl until now. 34 songs of uncompromised anger and speed, featuring Akiyama on drums (also in SWINDLE BITCH, ZAMZA, FORWARD and many more). This anthology shows the band’s progression from the early proto-blasting thrash assault of their s/t 10 song flexi disc, not far from the style of Deadless Muss (in their second phase) and early S.O.B. TIPPER'S GORE - The first four months. (Flat black record) (RM10)
This is the bands original demo, recorded after the band had only been together for a few months. This is by no means a low-fi recording. Recorded in a studio and originally self-release, this recording brings to mind The Faith's early material or the SOA "No policy" EP but with a catchiness that makes each song memorable. TOBS N KRONI - Years of Dysfunction. (Daddys belly records) (RM30)
Such a fun power pop/pop punk album. It runs the gamut of the rougher side of punk but also packs some great melodies in here. It's not a really an album, but more like a clumsy compilation of songs that the band just wants to put out. But you know, I can respect that. Still can't help but wonder the kind of thing they could pull off if they invested more time in the concept or the sequencing. Right now The covers of Beach Boys and Weezer on this thing aren't all that great, but you've got really memorable originals like Back To You (Tun MMM) (no prizes for which Malaysian Prime Minister it's about), You & Blue and Kita Jaga Kita. I think there was an intention to make the song arrangements more purposeful, like a proper concept LP, especially because the final track DYSFUNCTIONAL YEARS is such a good closer. Just a nostalgic acoustic summary for a band with potential. Listen at :
TOBS AND KRONI - Band life is rubbish. (Self release) (RM20)
They are back guys.
This time is more solid and stable. Arrangement is more intense. Part-part attack is fresher and unpredictable but the best. Many interesting odd times in the arrangement of the song, arranged well and not disturbing the flow and mood of the song. Part 4/4 of the square formula is also successfully reduced.
It's more crazy, the vocals are easy to hook, the bass line is picked correctly, especially the snapping part, flowers and extensions are all delicious. Guitar works more open, downstroke is good and does not freeze. The drum stroke is neat, sharp and solid. Fortunately, Min did not fill the single stroke of the song Teguh.
This overall must be heard and spread
I don't even care about the genre or any shit. As long as it is delicious, intense and cunning.. Kite kasi on.
Favorite track: I hate my hair.

TOLIVE - ~Live~ CD. (Black konflik records) (RM20)
This band from Kyushu Island was already included on the Downright Vulgarities compilation (also released on Black Konflik Records) that I reviewed a couple of months ago, and unsurprisingly, the band delivers seven new tracks of the traditional ’80s Japanese sound. To be honest, if you told me that TOLIVE used to be active between 1984 and 1987 and that this was a reissue, I would definitely believe you, especially if you caught me at my most gullible. The singer sounds exactly like your typical ’80s Japanese hardcore singer (think GUDON or GISM, obviously), and this confers a delicious vintage feel to the recording, which I suppose is what the band goes for. Musically, this is classically executed Japanese hardcore with those triumphant riffs and characteristic high-energy backing choruses that you can shout along to with clenched fists. The production is quite raw and simple so that it almost has a stripped-down feel, which may not be intentional. In any case, I think TOLIVE would have benefited from a more energetic and refined sound. The cover looks absolutely beautiful, though. I am not the biggest fan of this brand of traditional mid/late ’80s Japanese hardcore, but I am convinced this would appeal to the nerds who are.

TOXICTOY 'Amazingly Realistic Puke!' CD (Nervhous Records) (RM15)
This is the poppunk band from Padang Piol, Jerantut with their second hand after releasing their first EP in early 2008. The songs in this e.p are really catchy, it's no wonder that many people memorize their lyrics and sing along when they perform on stage. The featured lyrics are stories about life, regret, the fate of the body, revenge and others. There are also lyrics that are worked on from the writer's personal experience. 7 poppunk songs with a strong touch from bands from the land of the rising sun. VARIOUS - RATAS DE CIUDAD (Southkore record) (RM10)
A corker of a collection of Latino hardcore bands from Chicago’s Southside, including Eske, Jodido, Tras de Nada, Non Fiktion Nois, PKDores, Reacción, and I Attack, respectively. Most of what’s on here speeds by at a nice clip, is lyrically split evenly between English and Spanish, and all of it is top notch. Included in the liner notes is an explanation as to why so many Southside bands play hardcore punk, an answer that, as the product of East L.A.’s punk scene, I can attest is pretty universal. I hope the label makes this an annual “state of the scene” report of sorts for the Southside, with maybe an expansion in the number of bands represented, ‘cause, as Los Crudos illustrated some time ago, the scene in Chicago’s barrios was apparently quite vibrant, indeed, and apparently remains so.–jimmy (Southkore). 暴力装置 - CORRUPTION OF THE LAWLESS VIOLENCE (Black Konflik Records) (RM20)
MILITARY SHADOW guitarist Tetsuya has released a 5-track 1st demo of a hardcore punk band violent device that also serves as a guitar and vocalist, and a CD version with a 400-sheet press from Malaysia Black Konflik Records. Many people may have missed the cassette version released earlier by the band's own production, so this is a nice timing CD. If you missed the cassette, please buy it this time, and if you like the cassette, please buy it! !! Whether it's a band of quality that holds expectations for the future, or vice versa, a band that looks like garbage that can't be helped, Mr. Tetsuya thoroughly checks the current overseas metal punk that goes through the same era with his own ears. From there, for example, like NAGASAKI SUNRISE in Portugal, I always think that I'm always sick of approaching a band that I thought "this is it !!", but this violent device is metal punk. There is no taste and I push it with a brutal Swedish hardcore style only that makes me feel a strong influence from ANTI CIMEX. Mr. Tetsuya also loves ABSOLUT in Canada, so there is also a metal punk element somewhere, is it that type? I thought before I heard that, but I strongly feel his challenge spirit even when I am consciously avoiding it. I think it's a masterpiece debut demo that seems to have struck out his feelings. A must-listen for MILITARY SHADOW fans, BAFOMET fans, BRANDED REBEL fans, and punk fans looking for ferocious crust hardcore! !! (Record boy shop). Listen at :
